Feb 4 - I took some recent photos I had found or acquired and added them to the Catamount Mini Stock Competitors Page, the Catamount Street Stock page, the Claremont Speedway, and the Devil's Bowl Page. I also have the archives updated, hopefully. I also had added weekly blog/column February 3, 2013, on T R Waters and the Grand American Division. This page got screwed up and nobody got that message. I also added the photo of Steve Turner to both the Early Flying Tigers and Turner Boys pages.
Feb 5 - I put some more goodies on the Starin Family Photo page.
Feb 9 - I put some more photos on the
Me And ... page. I also made several additions to page
called Then and Now, which shows racing folks in
their younger years and how they looked recently. While I think of it - my wife
and I will be taking a rare vacation in the middle of the month; so, the site
will be pretty dormant at that time.
Feb 11 - 400 PAGES ! A BIG MILESTONE ! It
proves I am nuts and in serious need of a hobby. I added the
Weekly Blog February
11, 2013 - on the difficult transition year of 1965 in Vermont, when the
overhead V-8 was displacing the flathead Ford.
Feb 13 - Last change for a while. In response to a request, Buck Holliday and Floyd Geary now have their own page.
Feb 24 - I added the Weekly Blog February 24, 2013 - called Life in the Early Days. More stories about the rustic early racing.
Feb 26 - I heard from Florida that one of Vermont's least - known stock car stars, Paul Connors, was inducted as an inaugural member of the West Palm Beach Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame. A native of Danby, VT, Connors went South in the 1950's and ended up as one of the most accomplished late model drivers in the state of Florida, as well as having brief careers in the Grand National and Grand American divisions of NASCAR. He was close personal friends with people like Tiny Lund. Paul was inspired to race watching his Uncle, George, race at Pico Raceway in 1951 and 1952. Way to go Paul ! Hope to see you this summer.
