Said to be located on Brigante truck farm land on Williams Road, the track is called by most of the old hands "Harvey Moody's Track". Once described as a "5/8 mile chicken wire deal", the track did not have the best spectator protection - relying a lot on a ditch beside the track and a fairly flimsy catch fence. It is said by Ed Charbonneau, one of those old hands from the day, that the racing made Mr. Brigante so nervous that he would pace up and down Williams Road on race programs but never go in. Harvey Moody was apparently an in - law of Brigante's.
Green Mountain Raceway came three years after the similarly - named Green Mountain Farms Raceway in Sheldon. Several photos of cars at the track appear to be taken when no one else is there. Mooday apparently let people try out their cars there. Another of the old hands said that - many times - Moody didn't draw enough cars due to running against the Walter Barcomb track; so they had an arrangement wherein fans and participants would pack up at Mood's and travel over to Barcomb's track where their admissions would be honored.
Begun in 1951, the track lasted only one or two seasons. Luckily, historian John Nelson found a 1961 aerial photo of Colchester which shows the track because there is not the slightest trace left of it to see now.

This grainy shot of Bob Bushey practicing shows Green Mountain's iconic judges' stand, one of the few in Colchester with a roof.
You can see the rather minimal fencing and imagine how sandy most of the grounds were.
