Montreal Gazette
It is very hard to
get newspaper clippings from Canadian papers. The Montreal Gazette seemed sort
of hostile to racing,
in general. I would have preferred an earlier clipping for this vewnue but
cannot acquire one.
My old friend Jack
Peterson [known to most as Jackie "Speed" Peterson started out in the late
1940's driving a sprint car that was at least
somewhat homebuilt. He had photos of his running it at Richelieu Park, an
established parimutuel horse track near Montreal -much like the
very seminal and important Bouvrette Speedway [which was also located at an
existing horse track]. Jack raced at both, asd well as at several other
Quebec tracks. Thje Canadians seemed to like having Americans come up to race.

I don't think Richelieu Park ran stock car races for very long. The Montreal area is well known for stock car tracks, but hat venue is not usually mentioned among them. Bouvrette, on the other hand, went on until at least 1960.
