JOHNNY GAMMELL

John Gammell came out of East St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and he went on to become one of the most successful drivers of his era. The beginning of Catamount Stadium came towards the end of the Gammell career; but the former Vermont State Championship was still revered at Catamount by anyone old enough and with enough brains to appreciate what he had accomplished. Besides success, Johnny is one of the nicest men to ever strap on a helmet in this sport, which can include some pretty hard-to-like people. This is a quick and poor attempt to capture a long career into a few photos on one page. God Speed, Johnny ! I am going to get up and visit you one of these days.
