Dick McCabe showed up on the doorstep of Northern NASCAR very soon after the arrivals of Stan Meserve and Gardiner Leavitt, the first Maine invaders. This was around 1974. The strapping owner of a ocean bait company out of Kennebunkport was soon christened with a typical Ken Squier nickname - The Irish Angel. Having run originally at places like Beech Ridge Speedway and not always on pavement, Dick soon established himself as one of the top drivers in Northern NASCAR [and later, NASCAR North]. When the Vermont - based circuit split with NASCAR, McCabe chose to stay with NASCAR and run the Busch Grand National North series, s direct competitor to the newly - formed - Canadian Tour of Curley and Squier.

I could find no photo of Dick's first Northern NASCAR car. This is an
early McCabe photo because Rosati wasn't around much after 1973.

Dick bought a new  Mike Laughlin chassis car the same time as did Beaver Dragon. Both were stout cars.
