The Current Era - Paved and Then Dirt
Tom Curley had had enough of trying to run Airborne and began first letting various people lease the track before selling it off entirely. Driver Mike Perrotte [now a DIRT official] began promoting dirt modifieds running on the pavement. His car owner, North Country car dealer George Huttig helped keep the track afloat until the property was sold to a partnership that included excavating contractor Steve Fuller and Jamie Atkins, of Northern Uitilities. The track tired and tried to make the "pavement dirt mods" work, finally giving up around 2016. John Walker has promoted the track as a dirt oval since 2017, after trying one year while it still paved. The Airborne Speedway website has tons of photos and everything yoou need o nthis era; so, this page will be very small.
