Johnny Flach is shown with promoter C.J. Richards, agreeing to compete at Fairmont's opening
program on Memorial Day in 1962. However, it took him until August to actually race there.
Flach had been seen at a race in 1961 at the fairgrounds in Rutland.

Cars from the former Warrensburgh Speedway played an important role at the early Fairmont shows. Here, a
heat has all Warrensburgh cars: Red SMith, 33 1/3; Tommy Bennett in the 19; and someone driving Maynard
Baker's ME2.

C. J. said the show attracted almost 10,000 people, setting an all - time record for attendance at a sports event in Vermont.
The program was almost cancelled after two massive pileups due to a low sun and dusty conditions.

The second big pileup happened in turn 2 when it appears that Bob Bushey's big old
Hudson got crossed up in front of the field, along with Art Cody and Harry hale.

I don't think they ever learned to spell Joe D'Avignon's name. He'll become the promoter at the Vergennes track in 1965.
